From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
